Ecumenism
This has been a thought on my mind for awhile, and as I have yet to meet up with people for NYE, I want to elaborate. I am an ecumenist. There are few things I want more than a unified Christian church unmarked by divisions. However, at the same time, sound doctrine cannot be sacrificed in the name of broad unity. The goal is bridge theological and ecclesiastical differences in the name of unity.

“This is what the LORD Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. 10 Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor.”
-Zechariah 7: 9-10
The more I read the Bible, the more I understand God’s heart for social justice and His desire for us to love one another.
From their youth culture they have imbibed not only an emotional resonance for...

“Religion is not just a temporary thing that helped us adapt to our environment. Rather it is a permanent and central aspect of the human condition.”

The Perfect Penitent, Mere Christianity
One of the most enlightening chapters I’ve read thus far in Lewis’ Mere Christianity. Still trying to wrap my mind around it.
Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.
-Jesus Paid it All, Kristian Stanfill
I believe God is saying to us that real success is found in radical sacrifice....

I can’t even count how many times a day I tell myself “I can’t do this.”
When I try to wake up, I feel so weak and deprived of sleep that I end up closing my eyes again. I can’t possibly wake up right now. Five more minutes and maybe my body will have enough strength, maybe my mind will be…
“Sometimes we think of thankfulness or gratitude as just kind of a nice addition, literally good character. Now we’re taught that being appreciative is a nice quality for people to have and expressing that appreciation or remembering to say thank you even as a matter of etiquette makes life more pleasant for all of us. That’s true but when it comes to Christian thankfulness...
God is good, even with a 12 page paper left.
I am cracked out on caffeine right now. Help me get through finals Jesus.
Criticizing God for not doing it right now is like reading half a novel and...

I wanna pose a little challenge or request to all the brothers and sisters in Christ out there who may read this post. It’s currently finals week. I have a final tomorrow, Wednesday, and Friday. This will only apply to those who have blue books (and actually have finals). But I was reading a week or so ago about how some Jesuit professors have their students write AMDG at the top of their...
HILLSONG in SF, Feb. 26, 2011; LESSSSSS GO! →
During RRR week and finals weeks, it’s so hard for me to not lose track of things. It’s during these times that my past life really comes out. Before I was saved, I was principally concerned with just getting good grades and ensuring my future with man-made security. And it’s when I start studying and focusing really hard on my grades that my old habits come back. It’s...
Hair’s wet cause I just showered. Hecka tired but I don’t wanna go to bed bc I’ll get a headache in the morning (a Asian old wife’s tale). It’s times like these where I really just think. And I just started thinking about friendships. I’ve been very blessed in the last 2 years to meet so many great people to spur me on. God has blessed me relationally in so many...
“Many Jesuit schools and universities ask students to write the initialism at the tops of their papers, to remind them that even their schoolwork ought to be dedicated to augmenting the glory of God.” Talking about AMDG, the Jesuit Motto: “For the greater glory of God.” That’s so beast. I love Georgetown and that whole Jesuit feel. Even your schoolwork glorifies God...
I love Latin. I don’t know how to speak it or anything, but Latin just conjures up that beautiful image of antiquity, of Roman power, but for me, of Christianity’s rise. I know it’s kinda weird, but when I see Latin terms specifically relating to Christianity, it’s almost like a bridge between present times and ancient times. When I came across these words, I got these...
God is so faithful. I don’t deserve the opportunities or the blessings He gives me.
